Q&A with GiGi Fairchild, Owner of Anna et Pierre – Le Café

Sep. 18, 2025

Anna et Pierre – Le Café is more than just a coffee shop; it’s a vibrant community gathering place built from the ground up by GiGi Fairchild. Located in the heart of Poughkeepsie and rooted in GiGi’s Caribbean heritage, the café fosters connections between business professionals, locals, creatives, and visitors through food and culture. GiGi’s journey to entrepreneurship—alongside her husband Dade—and commitment to the revitalization of Poughkeepsie embodies the spirit of creativity and authenticity that Dutchess County is known for.

Think Dutchess sat down with GiGi to learn more about her journey, the story behind the café, and the important role it plays in the Dutchess County community.

Please start by introducing yourself. What is your current role at Anna et Pierre, and what drew you to the food and beverage industry?

My name is GiGi Fairchild, and I’m the owner of Anna et Pierre – Le Café. Food and hospitality have always been part of my identity, deeply rooted in my Caribbean heritage and inspired by my grandparents’ love of entertaining. I’ve always believed in the magic of gathering around a table, and how food and drink can connect people in the most meaningful ways. The journey here wasn’t easy; there were plenty of challenges and many people who doubted me, but I pushed forward with determination. Today, I’m proud to stand in Poughkeepsie as part of this incredible food and beverage community.

What brought Anna et Pierre to Dutchess County, and Poughkeepsie in particular?

Poughkeepsie spoke to me. It’s a city with history, resilience, and an energy that’s growing stronger every day. My husband, Dade, and I wanted to be part of the revitalization happening here, especially along the waterfront. This is a place where community matters, and I knew Anna et Pierre would belong and contribute to that momentum.

How do you view the landscape of the food and beverage industry in Dutchess County?

It’s exciting, diverse, and full of possibilities. Dutchess County is home to farms, breweries, restaurants, and cafés that all share a commitment to quality and craft. There’s a spirit of creativity and authenticity here that inspires me, and I feel honored to add Anna et Pierre to that landscape.

How does Anna et Pierre support or engage with the local community?

We see ourselves as more than just a café; we’re a gathering place. Our goal is to create a space where people feel welcomed, connected, and cared for. We host community events, highlight local art, and provide a warm environment where neighbors and visitors alike can come together.

Does Anna et Pierre have any programs, initiatives, or events coming up that the community should know about?

Yes! We’re excited to host a variety of community events, including children’s story time hours, networking meetups for business owners, and creative workshops, such as floral design and charcuterie board making. These events provide people with opportunities to gather, learn, and celebrate together. How does Anna et Pierre build relationships with other local businesses?

Collaboration is at the heart of how we operate. We source ingredients from local suppliers, and partner with nearby businesses for special events. I believe in lifting each other up because when one of us grows, the entire community grows.

What is a current trend or development you’re following that’s shaping the food and beverage industry?

People are no longer looking for just a product, they’re looking for an experience. They want places that are authentic, intentional, and transparent. At Anna et Pierre, we lean into that by offering exceptional coffee, carefully curated pastries, and, most importantly, a space where people feel truly seen and valued.

How do local infrastructure and transportation systems benefit Anna et Pierre?

The proximity to Amtrak and Metro-North is a gift. It allows us to serve both our neighbors in Dutchess County and visitors from New York City and beyond. That accessibility brings new people to our café and gives us the opportunity to share our space with a broader community.

What advice would you give to another business professional in Dutchess County?

Stay resilient. Trust your vision. There will be challenges and setbacks, but if you remain true to your purpose and lean on the community around you, you’ll find the strength to move forward.

What advice would you give to a business looking to move to Dutchess County?

Bring your authenticity and invest in the community. Dutchess County is full of potential, but the businesses that thrive here are the ones that truly respect and embrace the people, history, and energy of this place.
